Kharálampos Goyós (Χαράλαμπος Γωγιός) is a composer. Born in Athens, Greece in 1977. Studied with Philippos Tsalahouris and Dimitris Lionis. A graduate of the Faculty of Music Studies of the University of Athens. Mainly active in the fields of opera and music theatre. His artistic practice examines the relevance of traditional operatic codes for contemporary music theatre as well as the viability of the former in the face of postmodern subjectivity, politics and thought. As a composer, conductor and musicologist he has collaborated with numerous important venues and institutions in Greece and abroad, such as the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, the Greek National Opera, the Athens and Thessaloniki Megaron, the National Theatre of Greece, the Onassis Cultural Centre, the Neuköllner Oper et al. His music has won awards in Greece, Cyprus, the UK and the Czech Republic. He is the co-founder and co-director of the Athens music theatre group The Beggars' Operas. He is teaching at the Drama School of the National Theatre of Greece and the Athens Conservatoire.
